They are easier than most of Chopin's but have enchanting, haunting melodies. They are a great introduction to 19th century, Romantic *pianistic* playing--not so unachievable for someone less skilled. My one beef is that the Kalmus edition has a few obvio|About the Author|John Field is an accomplished author and former English teacher at Westminster School. His previous books include illustrated histories of Westminster Abbey and Westminster School.

A student of Clementi, the Irish composer John Field was especially known for his nocturnes and the influence of these musical mood pieces on the works of Frederic Chopin.
